If you want to make sure your kids will be successful in a world with AI, entrepreneurship is a must.
Because not only will they learn critical skills — salesmanship, influence, persuasion, negotiation, finance — they'll develop key character traits like resilience, adaptability, and the ability to learn and apply new things quickly.
When my son had his first entrepreneurial experience he was just 6 years old, first selling flowers, then lemonade. Of course we wanted to support him and bought every resource available for kidpreneurs to help him learn the ropes. Only to find they were all pretty basic. Kind of made for the last century. Not teaching kids real marketing skills, or how to leverage the internet to scale a business or build an audience.
Being lifelong entrepreneurs ourselves — who had just built and sold a company for seven figures — we decided to put one together for him. Which later became this award-winning book.
Following the tried and tested frameworks inside, our own son came up with a clear soap with a toy inside, designed to get kids to wash their hands more often. To get to the toy, they had to wash. The more you wash, the faster you get the toy.
It was a huge success. First day of sales: $325 worth of soap. He even won an award from the Acton Business Fair for Kids for the Most Creative Product.
